Krista Osborne

Krista Osborne is the Principal of KO Security Triage, a domestically based, international security consulting firm operating out of the Pacific Northwest. Additionally, she is the co-founder of Professional Development Strategies, a niche career services firm specializing in the transition from public to private sector employment. She has extensive experience in law enforcement, global security management and corporate loss prevention.

In her previous role, she was the Director of International Partner & Asset Protection and Supply Chain safety at Starbucks Coffee Company. Her background included: a strategic view and integration of safety and security with operations, global security planning, country to country standardization of corporate innovative and reliable policy and procedure creation, risk and vulnerability mitigation, liability intervention, investigation, training and development, compliance assessment, emergency preparedness and crisis management training. Exposed to on ground business operations in 54 countries, she developed principles and procedures that could be adapted to each country’s legal constraints and cultural nuances in order to achieve the end result of corporate safety and security compliance.

Prior to her work at Starbucks, Ms. Osborne was a Deputy Sheriff and Police Officer from Pierce County and Federal Way, Washington where she held a number of senior level law enforcement roles including: Patrol and Investigations Lieutenant, Patrol Commander, Marine Services, Field Training Officer Commander, Traffic Commander and Administrative Affairs Commander; Accreditation, Internal Affairs, Training, Backgrounds.

Ms. Osborne has a unique skill set and intuition in physical and operational safety and security methodologies. While in law enforcement, she was a segment producer for seven years for a cable television show called, “

The Sheriff’s Report: Crime Prevention Tip of the Month,”


and taught Policing in America at a local community college as well as a Personal Safety and Awareness course at a local university. She became a Crime Prevention through Environmental Design Consultant conducting assessments on the State Capital, Law Enforcement Facilities, Businesses and Wolf Haven Sanctuary. She was also an accreditor for the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) conducting both domestic and international accreditation assessments.

Ms. Osborne holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Administration and Management from Columbia Pacific University, a Master’s Degree in Administration and Management from Columbia Pacific University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology/Pre-Medicine from the University of Puget Sound. She also has completed the: Certificate of Terrorism Studies from St. Andrews University, Scotland, United Kingdom, the International Security Management Association (ISMA) Leadership Graduate training from Georgetown University, McDonough School of Business, Washington D.C. and the Sr. Executive Leadership Program from Northwestern University, Kellogg School of Management, Chicago, Illinois.

Ms. Osborne has been a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) since 2006 and is a member of the American Society for Industrial Security’s (ASIS) Retail Loss Prevention Council. She has been published in industry and trade publications and has assisted in editing publications and research on Law Enforcement Involved Domestic Violence dynamics and prevention.
